  • Rolanda Wilkins

RoLanda Wilkins is an innovative program administrator and global community organizer.  For over 30 years she continues to work in the area of women & adolescent health and wellness.  As the founder and Executive Director of Earth Mama Healing, Inc., she has developed numerous programs that empower and enrich the lives of girls and women in the community. Her initiatives, including Nurtured Girls, Empowered Women Institute, Wii (We Inspire) Girl, Queens Rising, Dream Academy, Mother Love, Yewas Rites of Passage, and Queens Live, have helped thousands of youth and families achieve their personal and educational goals.  She has worked throughout the United States, Canada, Cuba, Ghana, Honduras, Haiti, Jamaica, Nigeria and South Africa.

Rolanda has extensive experience working in various educational settings, including the Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD), Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD), Folsom Cordova Unified School District, and Sacramento County Office of Education Community Schools and Juvenile Hall.

Rolanda's commitment to education is further demonstrated by her organization of the Quality of Life Road Trip for the past eight years. This 30-day journey takes young women aged 14-18 across the United States and Canada, visiting 26 states and 22 cities. The educational tour includes activities that help participants understand the lifestyles and contributions of girls and women of African descent.

Additionally, Rolanda launched the Earth Mama Network, which produces podcasts and live broadcasts focusing on Black lifestyles and the African worldview. She also highlights community achievements through annual celebrations such as the Harriett Tubman Community Youth Leadership Award, Grandma Hands Community Tribute, Black Excellence Awards (celebrating secondary educational completion), and Men of Honor Awards. To date, 294 community members have been honored, receiving recognition from a US Senator, Assembly member, and the City of Sacramento.

Previously, as the Executive Director of Birthing Project USA (BPUSA), Rolanda supported women, groups, and agencies in starting and maintaining projects in over 100 communities across the United States and eight countries, leading to the birth of over 15,000 babies. She also led international health delegations and assisted in building clinics.

Rolanda's efforts extend to producing annual summits such as "Growing Wiser, Stronger and More Informed," which educates youth of African descent about their potential to positively impact the world, and "What It Means to be 18," informing youth about their legal, civil, and political responsibilities upon reaching adulthood. Her work in media includes producing, writing, and directing talk shows, documentaries, and plays for access television, as well as managing SistaTreats, a series of holistic retreats and workshops.

Recognized for her contributions, Rolanda was awarded the State of California 2008 Woman of the Year by State Senator Darrell Steinberg and received the 2009 Luminary Award by the National Association of Business Women Owners of Sacramento. She was also honored with the 2009 Hero of Human Services Resolution by the Board of Supervisors of Sacramento and the 2012 Sisterhood Agenda Award from Sisterhood Magazine.

Rolanda’s mission is to inspire young people to dream of a positive reality beyond their current experiences and to empower them to create the world they wish to live in. She currently resides in Sacramento, California, where she continues to support and enhance the educational landscape of the city’s schools.
